.45 Manstopper Bullet

Well at least that is what I call it.
The Brass , 2 cavity, MP Hollow Base WadCutter mould arrived today.
Bullets drop at .4525" Just about perfect for my needs.
The interior of the mould still has traces of oils in it.
I've cleaned it 2X, but the mould will just have to have time to " burn off " any residue in the cavities. I cast about 200 this morning. The last 50 looked REAL GOOD.

Very nice! Looks like you’ve planned to load the «hollow base» with the crater pointing forward? Man stopper, indeed!
I like them. Good luck!

The reason I ask is that hb looks huge and deep. It will be interesting to see where the accuracy drops off velocity wise. Reminds me of a thin skirted Minnie ball with the nose chopped off. Shooting steel that one is going to hit hard. What gun?

I don't think it will make much difference which end starts out first--.45" holes stop the nonsense most ricky-tick.

To paraphrase a C-store robbery victim's statement to me after asking for the robber's description--"Look like? LOOK LIKE?? He looked like a m-----f------ howitzer in Reeboks!

That suspect wielded some sort of 1911A1 pistol. .45s leave a lasting impression, fired or not. And, YES--Wambaugh appropriated that text for one of his books. The originator (good kid) went on to work for my county's Probation Department after finishing college, and is likely nearing retirement right about now.

I carried a BS 1911 Series 70 when working plainclothes. We assisted in a narco raid. My pistol was dark except for the polished muzzle. During the raid I literally stumbled into a hidden room where two suspects were crouched hiding. There was an AK and a handgun near at hand....I covered them with my 45 while both subjects came out of the room without a bit of problem.
Afterwards one of the Drano narcs came out of the interview room laughing. Said the guy he was interviewing eyes got wide as saucers and just couldn't stop talking about the MF'er with the cannon. I like to think that gaping maw on my 1911 saved me from having to shoot one or both of them that night. I took great pains to keep that crown polished.

... and then the Hague convention spoiled it. The MkIII .455 Webley had rounds that resemble the bullets from your mold with cavity pointed out.

HB fwd. Reminds of what my Dad and sheriffs used to load in 38 SPCs! Damned bullets would look like a quarter when recovered!

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Except that Ben has a MP Molds "Manstopper" hollowpoint design. The last I knew, Miha still had a few in stock. We had a thread a couple of weeks ago about Bob Haleys version of the Manstopper. This particular bullet was designed as a Hollow Point, not a Hollow Base. Ideal even made a version for 38/357.

I have polished the muzzle of my SXS 12 gauge I keep by the front door just for that reason. That is an old cop "trick" from the 1960's and 70's.

Ben's convertible Ruger BH in The 45s is a very useful handgun. I have several S/A revolvers, and in 2 barrel lengths--4-3/4 or 4-5/8" and 7-1/2".

I tend to sport this Uberti Sheriffs Model in the shop now and again, just to remind kids that the old man plays for keeps.

3” barrel, no ejector rod housing, .45 Colt with a, you guessed it, polished muzzle. The nice man in the big brown truck just dropped off a .45 ACP cylinder a few days ago and I have a NOE 454-264-WC mould coming.
