I'm still hung up on Fiver surfing those 3' Gulf waves in CC. That's where I learned to surf, off of Mustang Island toward the south a bit, used to go there a lot in college with a 7-1/2' board. If no waves we could always skin board on the silty beaches. Could be fun in early fall when the tropical storms were blowing in.

We wouldn't even leave the house if surf reports said "3-footers". I got my best rides--boardtop or body--in 5'-6' surf that had longer periods......12 seconds plus. Much bigger surf than 8' starts getting raspy and rowdy on the steeper slopes of Huntington and Imperial where I did 90% of my surfing (back when I was still immortal). These two sites are considered the "classic" surfing beaches of southern CA, FWIW. Some assert that Ventura--County Line--and Malibu are all that and a bag of chips, but L.A. County surfers are all brain-dead and suicidal anyway--bunch of insane grommets. Rock finders. Snacks on crackers for The Man In The Gray Suit.

Ahem......

Ben if you have a 9mm I could send you some 356 smooth side to try. It might work better in that application due to the shorter barrels.
They shoot the same in my 9mm's as my best grease groove design. Just been using tl on them but, am going to powder coat some eventually.
You always do such nice write ups, I enjoy them.

Surf's up!

A kind offer, but either fortunately or unfortunately I don't own a 9 mm.
Thanks for those kind words.

Used to surf at Hollywood Beach which is actually near Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, south of Ventura. My 9'3" Bing board is still up in the rafters in the garage.
