A handy shooting sling

The other day, while I was walking the dog, I found a nice piece of loading strap lying on the ground.

Fairly heavy material, with a bit of friction to it. Perfect for making a shooting strap!

The ends where sewn together at the correct length for me. I cut slits in two pieces of garden hose, for friction lock.

I've been using this kind of sling for hunting some years now, I like them. Note that the sling is not attached to the gun, only your upper arm. When it is time to shoot, you slide your hand into the sling like in the picture.

The sling also works well as a carry or drag sling for smaller deer-like animals.

I've got a bunch of different milsurp types of slings that I don't need. What are you putting this on?

I should probably sell the rest. I'm tired of having so much stuff.

When Fire Departments went away from leather hose straps in the late 1970's, that is what we ended up with. Made our own for our body size and had two or three in pockets; great for dragging people out of burned buildings.

@glassparman , the sling goes on the arm only, not connected to the gun. All it does, is create a stable and firm angle in your elbow joint. It puts no pressure or torque on the stock at all.
This helps me, when shooting from sitting or prone. It will stay in my hunting vest, ready for service no matter which rifle I bring.

The beauty of this design, is the fool- proof nature of it. Due to symmetry, it is impossible to wear it wrong.

Mike, If you are planning moving, better start now, between packing, then moving and packing some more.... we spent 5 months. 2 years later, still finding stuff to unpack. I know, I know, kept too much stu.... crap.
