Is there such a thing as a do it all alloy?
You know. I shoot 38/357 in revolver and lever gun.
223 bolt action with the 12 twist..
I find it easier to get from rotometals metals.. I'm looking for that magic metal to do it all with plain base and gas checks.. tell me what it is.. I've tried pure lead powder coated in the 223 with decent results at 50. Yards. Don't do much hunting anymore due to health issues,so it's basically target..
Appreciate your valued input on this.. johnny

Add some copper. 135gr PB from BO, 2100 fps is near MOA @100 yds. Pretty much convinced the gas port cut the base or would have been better.

i use 1/3/96 alloy for like 95% of my shooting.
the only time i wander off is if i'm going for uuber accuracy or accuracy and speed.
i'll still start with that alloy and then search through the weeds till i get what i want.

if all i shot was mundane 1900 fps rifle or regular every day paper and rock type pistol bullets i'd never bother with anything else.

I used water dropped COWW for EVERYTHING, until I started powdercoating. Now, I use air cooled range scrap. I played with adding tin/solder years ago. Its not needed for my uses.
I only cast for handguns with the exception of 350L ( which is nothing more than a stout handgun round) and 45-70

One can not find any wheel weight here in whoville,USA.
What the scrap yard has he will not sell. I guess he thinks it's gold. So when I need alloy, I have to deal with rotometals..
Appreciate all of your replies..

From all the reading and studying,I'm starting to think a one of a kind for my doing is probably Lyman number 2. I can mix my linotype and lead 50/50. And good to go.. johnny
