You guys are NOT helping. Everyone knows pistol caliber carbines eventually breed multiple companion handguns, so might as well get that out of the way up front. Go Glock magazine lower so you can interchange mags with your Glock 17, because (like me) even if you hate them you should still own at least two Glocks because they will be among the Tupperware and cockroaches when everything else on earth is toast. Uplula Glock mag loaders are widely available. So are Glock mags, so stock up. Need Molle pouches for those because 5.56 pouches are all wrong for them. Guns NEVER come with enough magazines, ever. Must buy ten at least because you never know when some nutbag's escapades will lead to a sudden intergalactic condition of "out of stock, no backorder". I designed my loading room around four progressive press stations, and currently they're all occupado, plus I need one more for .38 Special now that 300 BLK took over that press. Two minutes to change calibers is too long, I think Fiver can appreciate that sort of economy of energy since he selects powder so he can load three different calibers with seven different powders and never touch the adjustment on the powder measure. All my ammo shelves are jam packed with boxed and bucketed brass and loaded ammo, no room for 9mm. 9mm would be like crack or meth, can't just keep shooting the same 1,000 cases, got to have a 55-gallon barrel in reserve and process it by the 5-gallon bucket to keep all those guns and magazines fed.
So no, you can't just get a 9mm carbine and call it a day. I can't, anyhow.
But trust Fiver on the Hi Point carbine, they really rock. The triggers suck, but you won't care because you'll still be able to hit what you shoot at. They're heavy, but the big smile you will have tearing up cans and plates on the rack takes off three pounds. They're ugly, but the sights aren't bad and that's what you'll be looking at the most. The only thing you'll be cussing is the lack of a sack full of loaded magazines, because 10 rounds lasts no time in a Hi Point carbine. When you run dry, you'll want to reach for that companion handgun, and wish you had a dedicated progressive press with a 55-gallon drum of ammo because you only have three boxes left in your range bag...........
See why I'm still avoiding 9mm?
