I just got done shooting 10 different bullets, with same powder charge,in 38 cases.
I have the good fortune,of owning an extremely accurate 8 3/8ths smith 586,,great gun to test with.
Rcbs158gc about an inch
Lyman 358637 hair over inch
Lee 105swc under inch
Mp 275 copy under inch
358311. 1 hole!
Mp125hp 1 hole!
Mp 147 rcbs copy 1.5 inch
358156 1.25 inch
Lee 148 wc.....3 inches! Wtf
358429 1.5 inch
This ol gun, makes me enjoy testing stuff!!!
Long barrell,and 2 pound trigger,makes it easy.

makes you wonder if you loaded them backwards don't it?
Well,,i spent all fall, working on my model 14,,and they dont shoot all that well in that gun, either.
I know, blasphemy,,,,but thats the case with my guns.
I never got good groups with bullseye powder,in anything,,either. Glad its winter,or im sure a lightning bolt would fry me,,for saying this outloud!!

this is gonna sound silly then.
one of my best 38 [in 357 brass] target loads is a whole bunch of bulls-eye [7grs] and a 150gr wad cutter... with a magnum primer.
no idea,, but it shoots good.
Wouldnt doubt it!! I love fooling around with these loads.some of my escapades, isnt even published .

Is that "Lee 148 wc" the tumble lube one?
I ask, cause I had that one and it shot lousy. I bought the standard lube groove Lee 148 wc and it shot well in my guns.
also, were your groups shot from a benchrest?

After I quit Bullseye pistol shooting, I found the SR7625 shot smaller groups than any of Herc Bullseye loads ever did. FWIW
So glad to hear!! All i hear about is B.E. powder,in 38,and 45,,,me and a friend of mine,both agree,,BE dont shoot that well.clays in a 45,hp38 in a 38,,,,shoots rings around B E.

Now, that's funny, but my LEE 358-148WC is DIFFERENT. MAY make a difference, but I don't know, because I'm careful to get them "frontwards."

The base is dead-flat (sprue-plate-end) and the front has a very slight draft - not perfectly flat, so there's a top and a bottom.

I have not had the chance to shoot it at 25 yards from the revolvers. but at ten, it looks like it oughta shoot well at 25 - just don't know yet.

At 50, from the carbine, it opens up to about two inches. That's over 3.3 to 3.5 grains of Unique and I know it's not the best powder for the low charges, so maybe with some W231?
