Casting a LEE 452-200-rf

I been contemplating this mold for some time. Long love for the 45 Colt caliber so this is a nice light weight bullet for caliber.
The NOE I picked up couple weeks back was briefly considered for the same but its lack of a crimp groove had me just grab this mold as it has a crimp groove. I like to crimp for the rifles with mag tube.
The mold was a beauty too. ZERO issues. No burrs no tweaks needed. I did heat cycle it twice and it drops bullets nicely!!

I had one , ran it a few times , shot a bunch in ACP , Colts , and a few in Schofields . I just couldn't love them . They shot fine plenty of lube for 3-1/2 , 5-1/2 , 7-1/2 , 16 and 20 " barrels they grouped as well as the 255 sister , H&G #130 , and the 45-200 SWC ...... I just .......I don't know . Maybe the nose is too short to appeal to my perception of symmetry or something .

I have the 452-255 LEE new 6 cavity and it sounds like the same performance clean, heat cycle, cast good bullets. I’ve only shot a few in my 22-4, but got a small pile ready alongside the NOE 304’s both for the auto rim, for both the 22-4 and the 625. Trying both PC and BLL. That 200 and they look like big sister and little sister. The handful I have shot and grouped well, but definitely need more testing.
That style RF nose that LEE makes just looks right to me. I have that bullet in the 429-200 and it’s a winner. Just ordered and waiting on the 358-125 & the 158 6 cavity molds for the 38’s and 358’s with the Rossi lever in mind. I was looking at the 452-200 when I was ordering but I was all ready spending to much. I assume your going to run some through a pistol or 2 so will be looking forward to how they work for you in both.

I’m eager for my order of this style in the 358’s as I need to be comfortable with the 38’s and 357’s that will cycle in the Rossi as well as my pistols. I’m going to be snowbirding and have decided on the 358’s for traveling, pretty much do everything from fun to backup. I would love to take my 44’s and 45’s as well but I’m flying out and it’s a commercial flight not a charter so limiting on what I can bring.

I have been casting this bullet for years for use in my .45 AR/ACP revolvers. I like it because it has a crimp groove so I can put a nice roll crimp on it with my Redding .45 AR profile crimp. I also used it for my .45 Colt but I typically use the Lee 452-255 for that. I also like it because it casts fast because the stumpy bullets with shallow lube groove fall out of the mould easily.
