Saved my CV19 money and this is what I just bought:
SHELDON TE1248P with a 70" bed. When we dry out enough to move it to my shop I'll get more pics. Vintage late 1940's.
Actually the Lathe has been in use up to about a year ago when the fella moved. I think it'll go right to work without a hitch. Got lots of other stuff with it as well.
I came across one a few months ago that looked promising but was three phase. I couldn't make the math work and had to pass. Those old American machine tools are getting harder to find in good condition. The market for good quality, old iron, is starting to get a little tight. You may have found a real gem there!
That reminds me...
I re-wired a 3 ph lathe for my Buddy 8 years ago. He committed suicide 5 years ago, I wonder what his widow and/or son has done with his lathe and other equipment?
I think the best use of that money (which is really just OUR money to start with) would be to invest it.
There's only two ways for the government to pay for the 1.9 TRILLION dollar spending spree:
1. print more money and thereby devalue the existing currency.
2. increase taxes to cover the expense.
My advice is to put that money aside, and if possible invest it, to cover the impending tax increase that is sure to follow. Or put that money aside to offset the impending devaluation of your current money.
not free is correct, it's gonna cost 5600 dollars to pay back the 1400 we got.
luckily 90% of it'll go to new York and California, and be surfed off into other stuff that benefits nobody that takes care of their finances.
just so Ya all know yesterday has been unofficially declared St. stimulus day on the bookface net thingy.
oh,,, and I'll take B. for 7-10% Alex.
Don't do bookface, tweeter, instantgram or any other social this, that or the other. This forum is the only socializing I do. Registered with a couple of other forums, but only visit them every few months.
As far as the Covid Debit Card goes, I should probably put it in some kind of acct. for my GGrandchildren, because it's their taxes that will probably end up paying the bill.
