Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We hosted this year, again. My mom and step-dad are the only survivors of their generation, so we have become the "Elders" for family celebrations.
3 of our 4 kids and their families (7 grandkids!) showed up, along with my mom and step-dad. Mom has had a lot of medical issues the last few months, and we came close enough to losing her in October, that the doctors told us to gather the family to say our goodbyes. We did, but she soldiered through that, much to the doctors chagrin, and our delight. They have told us that with her current conditions, we'll be lucky to have her for another 6 to 12 months. That put a special emphasis on yesterdays festivities.
It went exceptionally well, with smoked turkey, smoked brisket, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, deviled eggs, veggie trays, spinach dip (with and without jalapenos!), and three different pies.
I probably don't need to explain further the things we're thankful for this year.
