I got to thinking about ugly rifles .

After some Ugly remarks about a rather homely rifle and it's mismarked feed box I thought about my Ms ugly little Terni 41' . Most of the polish was done I think it's former owner was an aspiring gunsmith . The headspace was huge , the sights were gone and the remaining twist just wouldn't stabilize anything over 120 gr .......

I hunted for a barrel blank and finally turned a 7mm Mt Rifleman barrel , then of course I had to find a case that fit the bolt face with a 7mm hole in the neck .
Poor choice on my part really but the 7RWH aka 7×6.8 SPC is a thing . I never have really gotten great groups but it's plenty for a vicious little short rifle that is built on an action reputed for it's ........... assassination lore .

I do love telling guys it's clip fed .

It was a 6.5 Carcano , Terni 41' stamped on the bottom of the action .
Boyds salt n pepper laminate stock , piller bedded .
OM 2 stage , breaks around 4.5# .
The scout scope was chosen because of the split rear bridge and the Enbloc clip that has to fit . Leatherwood EER 2-7×32 .
The base should be about 2" longer to move the scope about a 1/4" forward and eliminate the poorly exicuted ring modification .

In spite of it's many set backs it's an honest 1.5" gun and will run that right up to primer pocket failure ......... Yeah there's a valuable learning experience there ........ A 140 gr 27-130 patched up to .286 shows no pressure signs right up to 2400 fps which would have been fine if the bullet 130-132 gr but not so much at 141 gr . So the rifle has been proofed ....... Twice ......

I've considered a ream for several reasons to a 7-30 Waters rimless but I don't think 35 Rem will stretch that far and 30 Rem brass ....... It is currently happy as a 6.8 SPC case feed 7 mm that is actually delivering really close to 7-30 ballistics anyway .
