These older Ideal Molds sure are easy to cast with. They don't weigh much. Have them for most of the caliber I shoot from .32 Cal up to .50 for the 50-70. Anyone else here still use these?

That's a piece of history.

I think some moulds were made for National guardsmen to shoot short range with 1903 Springfields. That style bullet was popular with them. Of course, they used " gang moulds ".

Thanks Ben. I believe this is considered the "Kephart" design by Horace Kephart. There is a heavier ~170 grain version as well. I was glad to find this one. I'll be using it in .30-30, .30 Herrett and 7.35 Carcano.

The mold was in really good shape when I received it. It took over 250 castings to get all the old oils out of the pores and a near perfect pattern to be made. I'll still use the first 250. I'm not a very good shot and wouldn't notice the variation.

I collect old reloading tools and have several of the fixed block moulds. And yes I use them and shoot the bullets from them.
