this will be awhile, but i have a 6.5 carcano in model 91 that has a shot out barrel (its worn smooth in three places). i was going to rebarrel it a 35 rem or a 358 gremlin or something 35 caliber.

what i would want, however, is a 32-20 wcf, but it ain't gonna happen. it don't matter if its a single shot, as i already luv them.

if i do a 35 rem, does it do the en bloc clip or is it just a single shot?

what else can i do with the 35 cal with the m91?

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
The rim and body would have to fit the clip and the angle of the case in the clip would have to be close to the angle the design calls for. In short, got me!

Love this idea. @todd .

I am especially fond of the 35 Remington idea, buy my plan was to use s cute, little 95 Mauser I had.

I know that a 32-20 is a 32-20, and that case has appeal, to include nostalgia, but if you could adapt the clips and bolt face to the 223 case head....

I brought this up several years ago, and was soundly ignored on a forum, but the 300 BLK make a marvelous little 32-20 surrogate, especially with cast.

I know you want what you want, so that's just a thought which may offer an option if all else fails.

For the Carcano bolt face with a little "slop" you can use 38/357 , x39 , 35 Rem , 6.8/30 Rem with fair success rates . The 30&35 Rem families fit the clips but the 30 family has some vertical slop for carrying . The rimmed cartridges won't run in the clips .

With the assorted 30-30 based wildcats/mildcats and production cartridges the 30 Rem etc can just be run through the dies for a rimless .

You'll need a 1.2" barrel blank for the threads on the receiver threads . Thread is like a 1.155×14 , it's larger than the LR 98s , 700 , and 110s .

The lifter prefers longer OALs unless you add a partial ramp to catch the noses . With the 6.8 , 7×6.8 in my case , it tends to over lift the last round .
You'll need a custom mount for optics , mine was just a blank rail D&T on the barrel for an EER 2-7×32 .
The Boyd's stock was an easy fit but the grey laminate is heavy .
