One is in a local shop, stainless, at least a six inch, probably 7 1/2, .44 Magnum. Dad had one that came through when he was buying and trading a lot, but I never shot it. Thing is built like a tank.

Good guns? Not pristine, but in pretty good shape and the asking proice is $495, which I have a pretty good relationship with the owner so it might go for less.

I do love big bore revolvers and can't see getting a quality one for much less than that anymore.

Assuming it is in at least VG condition, that price isn't out of line but I'd try to get it for less (yeah, I've been kinda-watching).

Parts may be an issue, I've seen a couple reports of broken transfer bars, but that can be made (or modified from parts for a Ruger IIRC).

I bought one new in 1977(blue & colorcased), kept it a year, and traded it on a S&W M29. It was a big, solid SA, accurate, and felt better in recoil than did the S&W.

The first series were built by Hammerli and are exceptional. I regret selling the one I had.
Any idea what the serial number range is for this? This one had a 1974 date on it, but that could just be a patent date or something and not really relevant.

The things I've found looking around the web is almost overwhelmingly good. The grips on this one should probably be replacded, some chipping at the bottom of both. Shouldn't be too hard to make a set I would presume?

When I was shooting steel critters with Dan Wessons there was a feller from a Central ILL-nois town that had a 44 Dragoon. He did right well with that revolver. He was a top shooter in every match I saw him shooter.
Shooting steel was the real test for revolvers. Holding together and accurately launching heavy loads at 200 meter 50 pound ram targets removed all the "big name" revolvers from the firing line real fast. 98% of the matches were won by Dan Wesson and Ruger revolvers during the late 70's and early 80's. But there were still a few Dragoon shooters who were right in there.

I picked this up today, guess we'll find out this weekend. Gotta load some ammo, been a while since I've made any .44 Magnum up.

Looks like somene has been inside it based on the screw slots and it has a very good trigger pull. Might have been owned by a serious shooter at some point.

Massive thing, I hope I'm gonna like this one.
