Lightweight 9.3 Mould

Not that one in particular, but I have some adventure travel in 9.3mm caliber.

Regarding gas check bullet designs in this caliber, 35 caliber--375 caliber are both used--and a proprietary 9.3mm check may still exist. Check with Tom at Accurate to see which flavor his GC shank comes in. I think Sage's made & sold the 9.3s.

When I first got my CZ-550 Lux in 9.3 x 62 Mauser in 2002, components and ammo were very thin on the ground. I improvised--100 Remington cases in 35 Whelen made my first cartridges. These were capped with Hornady 9mm Makarov J-words after expanding with the 9.3mm expander ball in that caliber's sizing die, and a 100%-density load of slow-lot WC-852 did a fine job of sending those pistol bullets at 2800 FPS with decent accuracy. Some jackrabbits fell to these loads, and the over-driven pistol bullets did BAD THINGS to varmints. IIRC a few ground squirrels got processed with these rounds the following Spring as well. Given the Mauser 98 claw extractor and the pressures of combustion, the shoulders were blown forward the 1/10" necessary to maintain headspace. 21 years on, I still have all 100 of the Whelen cases being used for cast bullet loads in 9.3mm.

I have used a variety of castings and J-words in the 9.3 x 62. The RCBS 9mm Makarov mould (100 grain RN) under 4.0 grains of Unique is a fun short-range plinking round, I raise the muzzle before each shot to settle the powder. I have paper-patched Lyman #358430 up to .367" diameter and run them past 2000 FPS with milsurp powders--c. 2004 I finished 3rd at the 100 yard benchrest match at NCBS using this recipe......a group of 1.6" was the size IIRC.

I have a 270 grain Mountain Molds flatnose design that shoots LIGHTS OUT to 400 yards (6" groups) wearing a .375" GC and prompted by 23.0 grains of 2400. I have also found an older Lyman #366408, and castings from two copies of this mould have shot under 2" at 100 yards--just keep velocities under 1400 FPS. I also have a newer Accurate Molds plain-base design of 285 grains in lead alloy weight that is intended for casting Condor Cuddler Rotometals alloy with. Also a flatnose, it should weigh in the 230 grains ballpark and launched at 1350-1400 FPS will do for deer in the brush and timber.
