Looking back on the year

As I look back at 2016 I see lots to be happy about.
The forum added many new members. Some new to me, many old friends from other sites.
I learned much about casting, shooting, and lathe work. I made projects for others. I got a very nice Christmas card from S Mac thanking me for an item I made him. Things like that tell me much about our members.
The forum is approaching its second anniversary. We are now over 500 members and have probably had less than 10 posts reported for any reason. I attribute that to the quality of the people who join here and participate. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
The next year looks to be exciting. I have many things I want to test. I want to revisit 100 yard shooting with my 44 mag SRH. I want to spend time learning to shoot offhand with my 1911 better. I need to spend time with a neglected 375 Win 94 Win.
Thank you guys for your participation here. When Ian, Rick, Bob and I discussed a new forum I never imagined it would turn out this well. I can remember one person telling me it wouldn't pan out well, and yes it is a current member! Without the members here it would be a discussion between a few and would quickly grow tiresome.
I hope that each of you have a great 2017.

Wishing you the same for 2017 Brad. Thank you for allowing us all to share and learn and make new friends.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
I'll add my thanks, my new favorite forum. I've learned so much from the members here and been inspired to branch out a bit. Got the handgunbug now for sure.

Thanks to Brad for such a great place for all of us to congregate and for us to continue to grow, next year no doubt will be bigger & better. When we asked Glen to be a moderator he wrote & asked me what he would need to do. I told him not much, if your going to be a forum moderator this is sure the forum to do it. When this forum was first being discussed it was decided unanimously there would be no politics and that has proven to be the right direction and we have held a tight line in that area. Not that politics is a bad thing but it's an area on a forum like this one to keep from spiraling down the drain and devolving into name calling and bickering and there has been none of that here.

So thanks again Brad, looking forward to a bright future here.

Just kidding, they couldn't have all been mine.

Indeed a great forum. Always something to learn. Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance please, who is Bob?

Art & Science of Bullet Casting is, compared to other forums, a small enclave of friends.
The cumulative years and breadth of experience here surpasses that of other forums with many times the number of members.
The other quality that "artfulbullet" possesses is, all here are "gentlemen". Not implying that ladies are not welcome, but referring to the high standard of courtesy and dignity to which all here hold themselves.

Although all have contributed valuable information and input. And, with the certainty that I am failing to mention a host of others, I have to give special thanks to:
Brad
Brad's Mrs.
Kevin
Rick
Ian
Ben
Lamar

for making and keeping the forum a first class, informational and entertaining place to come.

O my...haha..got it.

Bob I'm Bruce in Omaha.

I had a cousin living in Lincoln. Do a few jobs out there occasionally. We fish a few lakes out there every few years.

See, I learn something new on this forum all the time:).

This is a great site for sure. I look forward to checking in each day to see what everyone is up to and am always learning something from all the posts and threads.

Lots of knowledge on this site, along with with good folks.

I know I accounted for at least one reported post/thread.
it took a direction I didn't intend it to take when I posted it.
I got over it...

I think a big part of what works here is we tend to have guy's that share their experience and their passion for the hobby.
we all have areas we more or less have more interest in, or tend to spend more of our time working on anyway.
I don't 'specialize' like I used to, and tend to kind of bounce back and forth between squishing lead into copper wrapping, shot shell loading, rifle shooting, and my lever guns.
it's nice to be able to have a slight drift in our thinking and being able to just look at someone's threads and see what they are doing and save some time by using their experience and testing data to get started quickly.
I know when I start my 325-C 30-30 project Ben has already laid out what he done and I can steal some good ideas. [he even was kind enough to use the same mold and powder I have been looking at using]
as I stumble my way through some different 44 loads for the revolver I know where to look, ditto tweaking the 45 acp for exactly what I am looking for [I have 10 loads already but am defining a narrow window I want to work in]

some of my shooting projects for next year have nothing to do with shooting cast projectiles for the most part, and one in particular is out there for even those other types.
but hey we gotta do something to entertain ourselves.

A big thanks from me to all for making this place happen.
I am also one of the ones that enjoys the discussion with out having to "wade"'through a lot.

Brad, you get that 375WW figured out I will be all ears, save me a bunch of work, lol.
I still chuckle when a thread takes off in one direction and then goes another, glad I don't do that.
OH LOOK A SQUIRREL.....................
Best wishes and good health to all in the coming year.
