Lyman 225438 HP

My 438HP was done by Buckshot over 10 years ago, and had it done based on John's articles. Believe it is an Ideal, so it goes quite a way back. A good shooter, so I doubt I will have no need for a newer model.

The one on the left Ben, no doubt in my military mind. The deep grooves didn't come, I believe until Keith started deep grooving bullets. Have a few old Ideals that are rounded grooves.

I also have the 225438. My mold is a 2 cavity Ideal with no vent grooves on the face of the mold.I don't know when Lyman started putting vent grooves on their molds but I would guess sometime in the early 1950's.My boolit looks just like Ben's........Terry

I bought this one from my friend " Beagle " in KY.
He has a lot of experience with the 222 and 223 shooting cast bullets.
He felt the 225438 would work well in my SAKO , 222 Rem, with its 1 - 14 twist barrel.
The mould arrived today.

I got out and cast about 150 with the mold.
NICE !!!!

Can't wait to send these down range.
The average for 10 ea., lubed, sized , and ready to load, is 44.7 grs.

What did you use for an alloy. I've got that mold, but not in hollow point
