Lyman 225462

A friend of mine has a nice 225462.
When I bought my .222 Rem. SAKO rifle, he loaned me the mould.

The 225462 is the early front runner in the accuracy dept out of my new ( to me ) .222 Rem.
As time goes on, the 462' may or may not continue to hold that title ? ?

My friend Ken that owns the mould wouldn't have minded me borrowing the mould again.
I doubt that many of use like to borrow things, I don't.
So................., I've been looking for a 225462 mould of my own.

I finally found a double cav. Lyman 225462 and the mould arrived today.
I couldn't wait to cast some with the mould.
It cast great bullets that size out well to .225" dia.
I'M A HAPPY CAMPER ! !

I'll be testing all three of these Lyman cast bullets in the coming days in my SAKO .222 Rem.

NOE just ran their version of this design. I ordered a 3 cavity (made on 2 cavity blocks), GC, Brass mould. It would not surprise me if Al has a few PB moulds in stock. Tony

This bullet mould reminds me of the shooter's views for the M-1 carbine.

1/2 love it.............1/2 hate it.

Right now, I'm in the 1st lot.

I have that mold, and it is a good shooter, mine weigh in right at 58gr as cast. I find it and 225646 to be very close in accuracy, but both are to long for my 222 at 1-14 twist. Both shoot great in my 223 Axis with 1-9 twist however.

Yes, that ( twist ) is why I've also recently obtained the 225415.

The 415" might be friendlier in my 1 - 14 twist .222 SAKO.

Very possibly nothing more than the initials of the Lyman machinist.

What Rick said, I've heard before. Also read or heard that such suffixes are cherry identifiers. Lyman moves in mysterious ways.
