Lyman 311467 HP

I bought this one from a fellow forum member.
The mould arrived today.
Everything is fine related to the mould , except in my opinion, the unusually long HP pin needed to be shortened. I've had my fair share of problems with long HP pins causing bullet blow up on game animals.

Nice job on the HP pin. That bullet would cause serious distress to a number of game species, if placed correctly.

Actually I would prefer the .314 with that type of bullet. I have the 466 in .314 and size it down to .311and it's a tac driver. You are going to enjoy that bullet in your .30-30, 308 and .30-06, if I remember corectly you have that in a non hollow point version and shoot it out of your Ruger number one stainless with excellent results, sized .312

I had one of those years ago. The oldtimers told me it was designed with such a deep hollow point to ensure it didn't ricochet on the range. The HP was definitely too deep for hunting anything over 50#.

Well Ben, I see you're going for head shots these days, no need for a hollow point there! got to love the two grooves with cast.

You're dead on.
The 2 groove barrels are capable of shooting cast bullets with just about any other .30 cal. barrel.
