I was looking in my mold cabinet this morning and saw this mould.
I have not cast with it in a long time.
It is an old Lyman made before they allowed many of their cherries to become worn.
Mine cast at .360 "
As a consequence, it is a good general purpose work horse.
I use it in 38 Special and 357 Mag. sized to .358".
The truncated cone with the " flat " on the end lends itself to cycling through
my 92 Win. 357 Mag. and Marlin 1894 CBC , 38 Spec. The 356402 will feed and cycle
through those 2 guns like water running through screen wire.

The flat on the end of the bullet makes me feel better when they are stacked in the tubular magazine of those two rifles.

I also use the bullet in 9 mm Luger sized to .357"

A fine mould !

Doesn't take long to make a nice pile of bullets with this mould.

I'll have to shoot a few of these in my Colt Officer's Model Match, 38 Special.

Looking forward to more pics of that beauty and some range results.

Back in the mid '70s had a friend who had been a lieutenant on the S.O. back in the late '50s, retired in the early '60s. He had let his hair and beard grow and in looks and attitude reminded me more than a little of Will Geer's character, Bear Claw, in Jeremiah Johnson.
He had a Officer's match model and had won several competitions with it. They represent the superior workmanship attributed to Colt back when finely tuned firearms were still at least as high a priority as finely tuned profit margins.

I understand the Officer's Model Match was made in the " Tool Room " in the rear of the plant ( with Pythons, Gold Cup Nat. Match pistols, etc ) .

Only certain employees with certain qualifications were eligible to work in that area.

A gathering of VERY skilled craftsman.

Using the same mould with excellent results in a Browning HP and Beretta Nano. Just recently, I've been loading them for my 357 LCR "pocket pistol". Unique is my powder of choice., though Bullseye or AA#7, are other good options.

It is just a nice " utility bullet " with many different applications for me.
Having a large quantity of them sized and lubed on the shelf is nice.

When I think of 9mm swc bullets that is still the design that sticks in my mind. I never realized how long the nose was until I found some in the berm.
