Thanks Rick. Looking forward to being here! Well laid out fourm, and believe me, I'm no whizkid on computers. In fact, all I have now is a "smarty-pants" phone, so easy to read is good!:)

Thanks! Didn't mean to hijack Ben's thread... Was mainly glad to find a nice place here, and I did! So, I'll get back to browsing.

Greetings
Have a 429 down here with me. Mine are cast with my own range lead which is on the soft side. All are loaded in 38 Special.
In the two S&W's it is a lost cause. 3.5 grains Unique up to 5 grains. Dismal. "Good area coverage".
The 2" 5 shot Rossi shot it a bit better. Good enough it was my CC. I did not plan on shooting past 5 yards anyway.
The two Colt Police positives shot it the best. Impacts about 1.5 inches right at 15 yards but will hit in a 2 inch circle all 6. These Colts had .3565 groove diameters.
The present comi rulers changed the rules and one person no longer can have more than 2 hand guns.

Mike, understand the political issues in a way. Have an adopted little brother in Brazil that's an attorney who's fighting for gun rights in that country. He tells me of the mess things are in there. I can only shake my head and hope for the best. As to S&W .38Spl wheelguns, my old '56 mod M&P 4" eats these up with 4.7gr of Unique and delievers a solid punch with 9.5gr of 2400 (now said to be too much for present day listings) . True enough for my Colts when I still had them. They shot great with the 429 bullet in the HP form . now all I have that is Colt-like is a Cimmaron Mod P in .357mag. A 4 3/4" SAA that's dead ringer for my old postwar Colt. This Cimarron (by Uberti) gobbles the Keith SWC up. Either a healthy dose of AA#9 or Unique in a mag case and it's about 1" above poa at 15yds and almost centered at 75 being just at the bottom of a 3" bull. Course I can't shoot as tight as a bench rest but the weapon and load are far more accurate than with me shooting it!

Welcome also ! Magnums are "Verboten" here. But a S&W model 10 was a good strong one for 38 Special +P. But it would not shoot the 429. Change to the 358432 which drops at 167g with my scrap from my mold and that was a winner. Actually that bullet shoots good in all the 38's I have had here.
