Mold recommendations please

I have a buddy that wants to start casting for 25-06 and 6.5 Creedmore. He wants them both gas checked and intends to powder coat them. Does anybody have a mold they love for either of these cartridges that you recommend? I have no experience with them.

If his rifle will shoot it I'm liking the NOE 260-120 .
Dad 72' 700 BDL 25-06' Varmint Special never shot any of the 120s he tried well compared to a <1" for several different 115s and the 85 gr Speer HP . I've been tinkering with the NOE bullet in it but I haven't gotten into the place I want to be yet . It fits well and is dimensionally shorter than the Partition 115 gr so it should continue to come together , I have the point of hold idea locked in and I have a little room with the Unique charges yet and have groups closing . Your results may not be like mine I had thought that Dad had shot the rifle more than it was and it would appear slow well spaced shots . Probably not over 200 rounds in it's 50 yr .

The 257 Roberts was a mindless success with the same bullet even into jacketed start loads of 4350 .... 1" 100 yd groups at 2200 + fps , just slap em together . One of the joys of a brand new barrel .

6.5 the above paper patched over a half max cast charge of Unique in 264 WM gave me solid hits on 24" steel plate at 400 yd with a 24" hold over no clue as to speed but I feel pretty certain it wasn't much with 12-15 gr vs the max at 26 gr .

Me and Loverne bullets don't seem to get along but I don't remember the 266469 being a bad shooter . But here again it's a teaspoon of powder in a coke bottle . I can't even offer anything for the other 6.5 as I'm working a .272 dia . The NOE 270-140 shows it may be worthy of an extended trial . It wont chamber in the 264 that's had maybe 80 rounds fired and only 20 full power jackets with W857 and Win PP in 7mmRM brass .

No experience with the creedmoor, but a fair bit with commercial action 6,5x55’s.

A general note: many 6,5 bullet designs were made with spacious military chambers in mind, and those designs will not be the best choice for a tighter modern chamber, particularily with the extra girth added by the coating.

I would look closer at the NOE 266-140, which is apparently designed for the creedmoor. The Arsenal 266-92 has also worked very well for me. The NOE266-126 (designed for the Grendel) also shoots well.

Not going to say it's definitive but I was able to finally get decent groups with the 266469 in my 6.5CM last week. Went from patterns to groups once I slowed it down to 1600 - 1650fps. Heat treated Lyman #2, lubed, 16gr IMR4198 & A5744. 5744 was faster 1686 - 1695fps but tended to throw a flier, 4198, OTOH, was very consistent at 1614 - 1619fps.

I shot two groups with 5744 one put a cluster of 4 in .725" and tossed one outside for 1.765" the second 5 shot group was 1.461".
Shot 3 groups with 4198, 1.329", 1.334", & one with 4 in .732" and a flier that took it to 1.610".

This in 10 - 15mph swirling winds where the wind was at my back at the bench, 90deg to my left at 40yds, and in my face at 100yds.

The NOE 266-140 has been out of stock for months so have given up on getting one.

Been out of town. 25-06 you say? Either the RCBS 25-100-FN or the 25-120-SP both cast from COWW worked very well for me with RD, Unique, 5744. Some folks say the the 25-06 won't shoot cast well, I beg to differ, some of my best cast loads ever were from that round.
