This one ( MP Brass , 358429, 4 cav. , HP ) arrived today.
I guess I can cancel my gym membership now.
This sucker is HEAVY ! !
However, I should be able to crank out some HP's now.
It has all the various pins for deep HPs , shallow HPs, and pins to make solids.

Before I knew who he was I always liked the SWC Keith style bullet profile. Your MP 359429 defiantly fits the style. I've only a few Lyman single cavity Hollow point moulds and some Noe RG hollow point moulds. The MP pin system seems like a better set up than either Lyman or Noe's. A few of my NOE moulds are also brass and you have my sympathies. I can't believe that I managed to spell sympathies correctly in only my second try. It's a good Monday.

Ben,
I bought in to a group buy into this mould a number of years ago. I was new to casting and the Brass moulds had me confounded ! I did cast a bunch of penta-points because Miha sent me a full complement of pins! Sold it within one month of purchase! If I only knew what I know now!

I parted with my 4c 255 grn brass MP mold. My old rebuilt decrepit shoulder just couldn't handle it. I could cast, but, damn, I HURT when I was done! Not worth it. Replaced with some Lyman/Ideal 2c 429421s...

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Pardon my ignorance, but how do you get the casting out with the pin attached to the mould? I would think they'd have to tip out a bit to release and mar the cavity at least. What's the secret?

Open sprue plate and turn the mold over. Slightly tilting mold away from sliding pin arrangement. Usually, comes out on it own or a light mallet tap, at best.

Yes, they are heavy.
You will from time to time have to remove those sliding pins the hollow point pins attach to and clean the holes and the sliding pins to keep the combination sliding freely. Otherwise the bullets won’t drop out easily.

I do not find them heavy... As mentioned a H&G 8 & 10cav mold is heavy @ 6 & 8#!! :rofl::rofl:

they are heavier and make one appreciate a mold guide. NOE are most difficult as the HP bracketry on the bottom require you hold or hover the mold. (Or bumping it, you will cause pin misalignment)

Ah! Okay, I thought the pins were static. Now I gotcha! Sweet!

Bret,

I took a couple of pics that may help you better visualize how bullets are released from the mould.

The 1st one below shows the " E Clips " that limit the amount of travel that the HP pins can make when the mould is opened.

This 2nd pic shows the HP pins in full extension allowing the HP bullets to easily fall away from the pins ( when the mould is turned up side down ) .

I've never had any issues with pins hanging up or having to remove them to clean them up. :headscratch: Maybe because I apply sprue lube to the sliding rods (when mold is closed) that align the pins.
