New here but I’ve been on a journey for some time.

My original motivation for switching to cast wasn’t to much different. I was angry that components had disappeared and or sky rocketed, I also had a realization that the bullet marketing manufacturers had basically tricked me into believing the only reliable shooting or hunting bullets were jacketed and cast was inferior. Since then I’ve proven these things to my self that they were false. The vast majority of looks I get at public ranges when they figure out I’m using cast and with accuracy is one of bewilderment.

I can relate to that. Back in the early 80's when I was struggling with long range revolver a much respected shooter and repeat international revolver champion told me to forget cast bullets and go for the win instead. Oh really. Some years later at the combined NRA/IHMSA CA state championship I fired a perfect 60x60. I beat some of the country's top revolver shooters, all of which were shooting the best bullets money could buy, including the one that told me to forget cast. Yep, was a wonderful feeling winning the championship, yep, a great feeling shooting a perfect revolver score but . . . The very best feeling of all was doing it with bullets made by my own hand.

Walter gave you all that,, and then didn't mention the load he used at 500yds?
put the 5744 back on the shelf, and move the powder speed down about 6 clicks.

heck Ric.
even the water from the gulf of Mexico ends up in the Pacific ocean eventually, that's just how ocean currents and rain fall works.

Welcome from Oregon!!

308 is a pretty fun cast bullet cartridge... even works great when downloaded and shot at silhouette targets out to 200yds.
