I bought a 155 gr lee 312 155.
I cast 10lbs of them, and the mold is simply awesome!!!
Except.....
The bullets mic .314x.317,,,,,to big and to oval!!
I need these to be .309,i think,,,,so onto sizing, and see if i have any lube grooves left!

Im gonna size a few,,,might work.
This mold runs some good though,,,open and shake,,all 6 fall out,,that is a wonderful thing.

It’s highly likely that your Lee mold might be cut out of round. But I was causing the same problem to a perfectly good Lee because I was inadvertently squeezing the sprue plate handle a little bit which was springing the mold open just a hair. I learned to close the mold w/o touching that third handle, then I got better bullets.

Could be!!!it was 20 degrees in the garage yesterday,,had to wear gloves,,and was hurrying,,
Very well could have been me,but even so,,it throws fat bullet.

One of my favorites.... easy to sling a ton of lead.... .311 for most, and .309 for 300sav & k31. Even as cast its good for sks/mosin's

Poor Shirley. I'll bet she had half a minute to look at the mould and compare it to a check list. Six Cavities, check, Handles, check, Sprue Cutter, (Sprue, that's a silly word), check. Drop the slip in the box that says, "Inspected by Shirley", check.
Of course I am terribly prejudiced. Lee is a good solid Wisconsin Company, like MEC, that has never let me down. Jobs for Shirleys I say!

just me but i place them both in the same category.
mec's are the only reloaders i've ever seen that readjust themselves if you leave them alone for 10 minutes.

The only trouble I had with MEC was the FC cases that had bases based on what factory load was in them and the super high brass RP that wouldn't come out of the size die . Changing the decapping bolt out for another 1/4" and avoiding the very high bases helped .

I know you're talking about MEC ShotShell presses. But my MEC single stage metallic. Reloading press is rapidly becoming my all-time favorite.

Buy a Lee .311 push through size die , spray bullets with Hornady case lube or something equivalent . Run them through it respray & run through your .309 . I recently bought a Lee custom 6 cavity #c309-170f with GC shank opened up to full diam. off EBAY for &59.00 . Had to do as described . Tried to just push through .309 first , it mashed a flange around base of bullet , mine also casts great bullets other than being too fat . Last I checked they were still available . It is listed as a Lyman 311-041. It is not, IT is a copy of the Lee. when I bought mine it was listed as the lee. It will be stamped 311-041

I've done the double size method plenty of times for certain cast... depending on the boolit, I'll even lube with molybee or 50/50 @.314 and seat a gas check, then go to .311, then to other sizes to preserve the lube grooves. 2 to 3 thou at a time.

IME, it’s the hulls going into the press. New hulls look better than factory ammo.
