If you must use a forward Assist, chances are good you will just make the problem worse.

The FA has become so common that most younger people can't envision an AR platform without it. Unfortunately, it has become so common that companies are afraid to offer rifles without it. There are a few companies that make uppers without a FA but not many.

I agree, most folks would never miss it.

imho....

I hate an AR10 platform. Army. An AR is supposed to be small light and sexy. a 10 ain't none of them - again, imho.

second - say what you want about the 'need' for a FA. While I will whole-heartedly agree they aren't needed (at least in a Civie model, under NORMAL circumstances...), I HAVE to have one, or in a SHTF scenario, lack of one would get me killed. Reason: I learned all my immediate action drills WITH an FA. W/O an FA, I totally screw up the IA drill and nearly rip my inner right forearm to shreds trying to find it - at least 3-4 times in a row! When I went to buy my first 15, I was flabbergasted by a S&W Sport (no FA). Old 'Nam vet sales guy watched/laughed/said 'here, try THIS one.' THIS one was a Wyndham WITH an FA. AH!!! all the old training came back and worked flawlessly.

I feel very competent with a SA revolver for defense (shot one all my life) and I also firmly believe "I" need the FA in AR platforms, due to my training and muscle memory.

Well I’ve always wanted a AR 10 so maybe I’ll save up for this one. Price seems reasonable

I must be the odd one here, I don’t look for an FA or ambi safety.

Look forward to seeing what you do with the new rifle Walter.

Up close stuff. Red dot or holo sight. 100 yards or less. Fun blaster cast auto. Basically just a SHTF rifle.

That rifle is good for a heck of a lot more than 100 yards, and a good price. Not too sure about how they managed to shorten the action so much and still make it work, seems there's likely a mass/length compromise there somewhere that they're making up with springs somehow. For bumming about/shtf it's hard to beat a 5.56x45, but if you want to pack the weight (remember, there's no getting over the two pounds per magazine that the ammunition weighs), then the .308 is a lot more capable. My full-size 18"-barreled lightweight PSA uppers and carbine stock on a plastic lower with scope/mount, suppressor, sling, and full magazine comes in at around 12 pounds if I remember right, base rifle with no optics and an empty magazine is somewhere around 7.5.
