Just recieved my new 35xcb from Noe on Thursday. Got it cleaned and run through a heat cycle today.
I'll do that a couple more times tommorrow and hopefully cast with it Sunday afternoon.
This one is a 2 cavity al. with 1 gc and 1 pb. Should get some ht'd next Monday night and be running a few through my 35 whelen by next weekend.

I needed another 35 cal. mold about like i need a hole in my head, but i'm looking forward to playing with it anyway!

Buddy,

You're like I am......." Simply put, I'm just one more mold away from being happy and having all that I need . "

I'm looking forward to seeing some groups.

I put the last break in heat cycle on it today, so it's ready to cast with tommorrow. Looked in my ingot bin and only have about 8 ww ingots ready and maybe a half pot full of melted ww. Should be plenty, but i need to do some smelting too. May just pretty well make a day of it smelting and casting.

Ben this is the 6th mold for the whelen...i think i need to call it happy right there lol, but AL keeps on turning out new ones!!! And then there's all those Accurate Mold versions.......

Lol, yep, one step too many could be headed downhill from there! Actually i'm just as curious about the pb version on this one as i am the gc.
You have me hooked on plain base shooting. 12 gr. of unique and a plain base 358009 @1275 fps. out of my whelen is more accurate and fun to shoot than any .22 i ever owned.
Not exactly a pipsqueak load either...digs a deep hole in a 100 yd. dirt bank!

This will have to be a good one to out shoot the 358009 for sure.

Cast with it today for the first time and while i'm not an expert caster by any means, this one made me look like i am.
I only checked about 40 to 50 each of the plain base and gas checked versions, but was impressed with the results. I could probably shoot these unsized and do well with them as they are all concentric in weight and dia.

The gc's weighed 228.7 gr. + or- .2 and the pb's weighed in at 231.2 + or- .2
The bands on the gc's were .3603 to .3606
Bases and bands on the pb's were .3611 to .3614

All the NOE molds i have pour tight tolerances, but this one is pretty extreme.
I have enough neck clearance to shoot the pb's at 361 if want to try it someday, which might be interesting. I normally size everything to .360 for the throat.

Thanks yodog, i'm hoping too! It's definitely a good looking bullet. If the weather will hold around here, maybe i can try a few this weekend and see what "ol contrary" has to say about it!
