I'm hoping to have this one by Saturday.
I got confirmation from Al today at NOE that the mold has shipped.

I have nine 30-06 rifles and two .308 Win. rifles.
In time, I'd like to shoot the bullet in all of them.

Ben, that sure is a different looking critter of a bullet. Will be anxious to hear your results with it.

I know the bullet will shoot well and Ben is very capable of getting the most out of it.
What I want to know is this. What are you looking for in this design to get better results than moulds you already own?
Just curious if it was a planned purchase or more of a "why not" type purchase.

Brad,

I've always liked the saeco # 315.

This mold reminds me a bit of the 315.

I like heavy weight .30's.
I just thought it would be an interesting mold to own.
Don Eagan used rifles with specially cut chambers specially designed for his style bullets in bench rest rifles.
I won't have that luxury. But, I may get lucky and the bullet will still shoot anyway.
Who knows ?

Look what was in my mail box yesterday !
:) :) :) :) :) :)

I have not cast with the mold yet, I have not cleaned it either ( as you can see in the photos below ).

The mould will get a good cleaning and I'll be casting with it ASAP ! !
Looks like Al at NOE has hit another home run with this Eagan design. I was in on the group buy for this one. Maybe 2 1/2 months or so. Well worth the wait. Al had predicted 1st week in May to cut the moulds, he is ahead of schedule !

Thanks Al for another great mould.

Imagine that, Ben got one cavity in plain base. ;)

Can't wait to see how they shoot Ben. I see an 06 and some 2400 doing good work with those bullets.

Brad knows just how much I like to shoot plain base rifle bullets. Some of the rest of you may not. I decided to start with the plain base cavity of my new mould to test 1st.

The " numbers " look real good. :)

Here are some photos. They are drying now with the lube ring filled with Ben's Red and the entire bullet coated with Ben's Liquid Lube.

UPDATE ----------- Today, I loaded a few in .308 cases for my Heavy barrel bench rifle.
The good news is, in my particular rifle, the base of the bullet does not extend below the neck.

Here the bullet is seated such that it lightly imprints when the bolt is closed.

I can't figure out why Al didn't put a nose taper on that one. That's the whole reason that bullet worked.

It is - just not very much
.302 to .301 in .250 length
The original Eagan drawing didn't have any

Thanks
Different but the same.
Could be a fun one to run too.

Variation of the same theme, Eagan was the NOE, Mountain, Accurate, and MP of the time and Ardito was testing philosophies of fit. Ardito also did a lot of nose bumping and throating.

Ben,
if possible could I get a dozen or so of them. Too try in my new 300blk AR, yes I drank the Kool-Aid. I have a 16" with a carbine length gas tube. I just built it this week and have not even fired factory rounds through it. However I want to shoot only cast in it. I have the Lee mold and a Lyman for the 7.62x39 for supersonic. I have been looking for an NOE heavy weight, but have been undecided. The 240gn has been out of stock for awhile, I hope AL does a rerun. Hint, Hint.
Thanks Kev
