Obsolete/hard to find brass

Quality Cartridge co through Graf &Sons has lots of stuff obsolete and wildcat available. They list 458 x 2 American which is a wildcat that I use. Gave them a call and not only is this brass head stamped 458 American but they had it in stock!!!
I was surprised to say the least. It ain’t cheep, but head stamped correctly. Nice. When I get rolling in the dough I think I’m going to indulge in 60 pieces.

With those prices I'm certainly glad I know how to form brass! Sad to see the 257 Roberts considered "obsolete".

Wow . That green box Rem Dad bought in the 70's unprimed 257 brass just made it possible for me to retire . Okay not quite but I should be able to get about 4000 primers off eBay for it .......

I have enough 222 mag for a 5th ...... I don't even know anyone with a 222 mag .

I have a SAKO L461 .222 Remington Magnum Varminter, it is a favorite prairie dog rifle. A friend tried to sell it at the Puyallup Gun Show for a year and no one would buy it since it was not a .223. Having a 6X47 and plenty of brass, I bought it when I found it for sale. Having shot it, it is now a favorite for the rifle and the cartridge.

Well I shoot a 6x47 as well built on a L461 action and have because of that, I have managed scrounged quite a bit of 222 mag brass over the years. I which I’d of run across your friends SAKO as I’d have grabbed it up as well. Nice score.
When I’m down in Washington visiting I try to hit gun shows, but it seems that all I run into are modern black rifle shows.. I know there’s still good shows that are a mix of old and new but I can’t seem to figure out from the brief ads I see. I think the last one that was good was at the Fair Grounds in either Centralia or Chehalis, and a couple in Oregon. More often than not I get all excited about a show and it’s all black rifles run by the same people. Pay admission and 5 minutes later out to the car and home. Pretty disappointing. Love to figure out what shows a guy who likes blue steel and lumber could find and go to.

I used to have 5 boxes of 222 Mag brass, unfired. I think it was Norma. It may still be out in the barn mow with a bunch of other stuff that remains unpacked since we got here in '95.

Funny how times change. I can recall when finding something like a single 7mm Rem Mag piece of brass at a range was a rare thing. Now finding a 257 R or 222 is rare. Times change.

The kind of guys that shoot .222's and .257's never even let their brass hit the ground, much less leave there. But even allowing for that, pretty rare. My .222 is very useful and I am grateful I hoarded brass years ago.

I edited to say, I wish I had another .222 so I could have one sighted for cast and the other for jacketed.

I know this is a taboo thing but the 222 Rem , that's how I got the 222 mag ammo honest mistake , shoots that NOE 225-55 that's now a 225-62 @62 gr just like it shoots the 50 gr jackets . 5 in a dime 10 in a nickle as long as the loose nut behind the trigger does his job . It also does it in the core of jacketed speeds . Which makes me very happy I suspect however that a flesh impact would be a huge mess .

I have a 222 Magnum, custom made on Sako L461 action. Brass is easy= run 204 Ruger brass through the 222 Mag full length sizer and voila. Load it and shoot, it fireforms as you go.
