The Sharps 56 breech loaders were known for the same diameter issues. They had what they called a Christmas Tree mold for them. 3 bands. .52/.54/.56! I have bullets from the mold, and expect soon to shoot an original Sharps 1863 New Model Carbine!

The museum I volunteer at has an original 1861 commercial sporting rifle. I have begged for years to be able to shoot it, but they will not let me take it out. Very nice wood, excellent sights and very good condition. As far as I know, one of about 10 original sporters pre-Civil War still in existence.

That is a great looking Spencer !
At our East ILL-nois museum I am permitted to handle and clean all the firearms on display. But I also cannot take out firearms that are not ours to fire.
