Ordered a couple new handguns

For no good reason other than fun. Both are Ruger LCRX 3” revolvers. 3” barrel adjustable sights. One in .38spl +p and one in .22lr.
The wife wanted the .22 but I’m sure I’ll have fun with it as well.
I’ve rekindled a love affair with the .38 especially since I got that new MP 358429hp mold. Very light weight, easy to pack around in the woods or hiking or around camp. Should make for some fun plinkers.
The total cost of both is less than the mortgage payment I no longer have. One more good excuse for getting them. Should be here by weeks end.

I have a LCRX 3" in 38 special. I swapped out the big grip for that smaller standard LCR grip. I like it a lot. I think you and your wife will be pleased. I went through mine and cleaned it up and shimmed a few pins. It made a smooth action even better.

Just got the new revolvers. Very happy to see that my .38spl will take a .359” minus pin gauge in four of the five cylinder throats. .358” fits easily in the fifth. At least they are not too small. Pretty nice trigger in both double and single action. Stacks up nice and breaks pretty clean. Hope to shoot this weekend.

Hone out the small one if it gives you any trouble. My stepmother has an LCR with the factory laser grip panels and it's probably my my first pick for a lady's carry gun. It gets un-fun to shoot after about five or six cylinders full but until then it's pretty dang good.

The same can be said of most J-frame 38 Specials for those of us with BIG PAWS.

I have fired a couple of the Ruger LCRs, and I prefer them to the S&W 5-shots. Better triggers, lighter to carry than my S&W 642. They are hard to find in CA.

I have the 3" 38 Special LCRX. It is LIGHT, but a tad bulky for a five-shot, has decent triggers and shoots well. For just over $400, I felt it was a good value and a quality gun. It's a "nightstand" gun. I'd carry it, but the 4" Bullldog is almost as light and about the same size.

It would be interesting to see a 44 Special LCR/LCRX, but I actually shoot a lot more of the 35s these days and conserve precious alloy with no diminishing of entertainment.

So the MP version of the 358429 penta HP shoots rather well offhand from this light little revolver. 6.2gr of HS-6 gets me 800fps from the 3” barrel. Pretty easy to bust clays on the berm offhand at 20 yards.
These same loads produce 1180fps from my 16” Rossi lever.
