I have a friend who brought me some bees wax. He had over cooked it a bit and it is tan in color instead of light. Is it still good to use with vaseline for lube?
much of mine is a creamy tan rather than bright yellow.
even the ultra refined stuff you buy in little pucks at the hardware store come a clear brownish color.
if you over heat it it will form a black sheen of carbon chains on the surface and this is what discolors the wax.
nuthin that wasn't already in there.

I've cooked up various lube recipes, many with beeswax. I even set one on fire
I've also refined/filtered some dirty beeswax, which I will NEVER do again, LOL
Anyway, common sense tells me your beeswax will be fine, I'd start worrying if it were dark brown (or black) all the way through.
