That looks(and shoots) great now! I've done several crowns with hand tools only- the latest was removing muzzle threads and recrowning my 6.8 AR barrel. A smooth exit point for the bullet is all that's needed. I've never gotten Less accuracy from re- crowning.
Sandvik hacksaw blades were preferred, but I haven't seen any of them in a while

Ben, do you suppose the feller that did the barrel work is the same feller that built the rest of that beautiful rifle?

I don't know what happened ? ?
I do know that my diagnosis of the accuracy problem and my remedy have made a world of difference in my enjoyment with this rifle.
All is well that ends well.

Thanks,

Ben

Somebody screwed with it after it was built, you can see the mark of one of the lathe jaws in the finish near the muzzle. The marks should be gone now that Ben cut that part off. A real gunsmith uses far better tools to shape the crown with (particularly the inside which is cut to a certain angle and polished with a lap of matching angle chucked in the tailstock). Also, a real gunsmith uses some kind of chuck jaw protectors to prevent marring the barrel finish.

All true.
I ended up with a less than ideal situation.
I tried to make the best of it.
