Great news for all!

Rick is in the process of moving many of the articles, and Glen’s book, into a reference library here.

Thanks to Rick for working to make this happen. The knowledge base on the LASC site is safe!

I've been out for awhile. Is the LASC site going down?

Not yet, this is just insurance against losing the articles or Glen's book should something go wrong. I've been having trouble with the hosting company, I think they have changed ownership and made changes.

Bob Davis is a podcaster and friend of mine. He's been podcasting about various topics over the years and currently about modern day nomad traveling in the USA. Anyway, he has had his website and server service (or whatever that's called) since 2009. Out of the Blue, a month ago, he was forced into a situation where he had to delete 2/3 of his podcasts or upgrade to more spendy service or find another service. I don't know if anyone cares enough to listen to this 30 minutes podcast, but I sure think he is fun to listen to...but it's the type of thing that can happen to any website after a certain amount of years with the same service.

The purpose of the internet is to make money. If you think different, you are an Ostridge.

I ran several websites and that is a thing. The service providers are in business to make money.

I ran the Glasspar Boat Owners Association website for 20 years and had to upgrade or switch many times. Facebook won over the users and I finally shut it down the site a couple years ago.

My son is an IT guy. He once told me that nothing is free on the internet, everything has it's price. If you are receiving any free services, than you're the actual product. Perhaps more accurately your data and usage is the product, being sold to a third party. Some people feel they have nothing to hide, and more power to you if you believe that. However I've been the focus of advertising targeted towards my internet searches both on the PC, and on my phone, which is a whole 'nother opportunity for security breaches.

No, I have not been drinking.

My best friend is a programmer and he told me exactly that, verbatim.

I get the fan-tods every time adverts and content suggestions appear based solely on conversations that have taken place in my house. My wife and I tested it out once by repeating key words on an obscure subject we couldn't ever remember talking about or searching (baseball cards) and I'll be damned if we didn't both start seeing it show up. Brad has said that Google is his bitch, and I get my money's worth out of her too, but really WE'RE GOOGLE'S bitches.

anyway, I'm glad to see a backup coming here for the LASC stuff.

I'm really happy about Jim Taylors stuff too. I followed Jims original site ages ago and seriously felt cheated somehow when he closed it down. Happily, he's back in-country after his service as a Missionary.
