If I was buying for cast bullet use, and I wanted a small 30, hands down I would choose the Russain over the BO.

I have 5 BO and altho they shoot cast good enough tbey are FAR from
Most accurate. I blame that twist rate as 223/556 is same from like twists. But My Savage 24 223 & 222 with a 1:14 barrels shoots cast like a laser beam!!!

i didn't buy a BO until i found one with the faster 7 twist barrel.
i coulda bought 3 Rugers for the same price as that AAC, and did end up buying her one before the wife wore the barrel out on mine.
i really like the stock on the Ruger but i by far prefer the accuracy and throat design on the AAC.

i hemmed and hawed around on a Ruger american in X39 too long.
i don't know why i didn't immediately snap it up, i have a couple thousand NIB Winchester cases, die set, and a half dozen molds i could use in it, plus 2 plastic wrapped stacks of Hornady bullets for it.
everything but the bolt gun.

With all of that X39 potential fodder around, why don't you just get an upper? I really like mine. I neglected and dismissed AR's for years until forced to qualify with them. I erroneously blamed them for the missing 870 in my squad, when in fact it was a symptom of something else entirely.

I couldn't keep track of the bolt release from the mag release and was fumbling around at the annual qualifications. Handguns quarterly, rifle once a year. So I bought one even though "Bill" thought I shouldn't have one. They grew on me, ugly rattlely, noxious, controversial things that they are.

upper?
my AR's are heavy barrel varmint rigs, except the national match Armalite.
i don't think i could take the disappointment of having one that wasn't @1/2" capable.
sides i got a couple of SKS's to really fling empty cases around if i wanna lose them.... LOL

it kinda became one of those bolt gun or nuthin things, then the 340 come along, then the 325, the Brit's, the argies, another 94, the 95 in 30-40..
