Thank you sir, I’ll let you know what I think after i shoot it hahaha. I have a feeling that it won’t supplant my gp100 with 38 spl as my steady shooter haha but I have some neat plansEnjoy that big beast.
Absolutely, a ton of possibilities!! I bet that DW SuperMag is a gem!!! I have a couple new production Dan Wessons, both 1911s, one in 45 acp and a long slide in 10mm, owned by CZ now. Those long chambers do open up the door to all sorts of possibilities.
We we bought our first Dan Wesson Supermag in the late 80's it was like awakening in an ice cream shop !
Thanks for the info man, I’m heading in to work now so when I get seated at my desk I’ll look him up!!! The more info I can find, especially info from talented folks, the betterI got to shoot a friends 4" .500 Smith a few years ago with Trail Boss loads. Was good fun. A guy named John Ross has done extensive time with the S&W .500 with big bullets. He was out with a friend who was able to put 50 out of 50 of the 700 grain slugs into a 50 gallon drum at 700 yards. John Ross hates the muzzell breaks on the x frames. He says that the blast and the noise are far more of a disturbance than the recoil. If you do a search on "John Ross" you can probably catch some of his writings. He had S&W make a 500 gun run of the .500s with a 5" barrel and no break. They show up as John Ross specials.
Hell yessss, that’s all this will be for me, fun. I have no grand plans on hunting with this, my M&P mold actually JUST arrived in the mail, I may pick the Lee up down the road tooAfter I bought my first Ruger .480 my brother in law bought his S&W .500 with an 8 3/8 “ barrel. Just had to out do me! It’s a kick in the pants to shoot at close and long range. He’s not a hunter and never will be. It’s just fun. That’s reason enough. I made him a nice cross draw holster that’s comfortable for all day wear and comfortable to drive his pickup. He wasn’t a caster until he started trying to buy bullets. His only mold is the Lee .501 and he’s perfectly happy to launch them at about 1150 fps. Comfortable for all day plinking.
I hear ya. The 357 Mag does a whole lot of things really well. One rifle and 3 revolvers (4", 6.5", and 7.5") on board, and I lined up for a 6" Python a few weeks ago. LOVE the 357, a plain-based 158 grain bullet at 950-1000 FPS does about 90% of my shooting in that caliber.Thank you sir, I’ll let you know what I think after i shoot it hahaha. I am VERY jealous of the Python hahaha, was just ogling an Anaconda online. Maybe one day, I don’t have any Colt revolvers yet...I hear ya. The 357 Mag does a whole lot of things really well. Ugh man, 357/38spl is such a fantastic caliber/platform. I specifically mentioned 38 spl earlier bc I have been enamored with Wad Cutters recently, I’ve got some really fun loads. I love Keith bullets in my wheel Guns too, be it 357/38, 45 colt or 44mag/splI hear ya. The 357 Mag does a whole lot of things really well.
