California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
RB,
I tried to talk to him about speeders and red light runners, but he only paid me lip service. Told me to take it up at a city council meeting. He's a jerk.

I cannot imagine a situation, job, vocation or life (Law enforcement is not just a job; it's a life.) where, "don't judge me until you've 'walked a mile in my shoes'" applies more readily and appropriately.

That comes with the choice between politico and lineman , probably too often the politico wins out .....

Let's just say I know a bunch of the leo's and firemen here. My old ladies cousin just retired from our police as a detective. I have partied wit him and a bunch of the other officers. I know how they think and seen them in action when I used to drive tow trucks. I watched how the society put them on a mantle and they could do no harm. Qualified immunity needs to be stripped from them or could only be used in very certain cases. Not for everything they do. I have seen the games.

Firemen can be just as bad. I had one of them tell me about a certain lady that lived near me how she was terrified of needles. This lady was suffering from dementia. She was calling the firemen sometimes 3-4times a day. So he says to me " oh yeah site gets the iv every time" he shows up. Just so she won't call anymore.

I respect some of the current ones. But as a whole no way. The whole "officer safety" thing needs to stop! All the BS we see about police. It all would not happen if the whole officer safety would not be a thing.

This should be interesting...

Not really, Officer's safety doesn't matter.....until it does.

Like the other day in DC, guy rams a barricade and gets out of his car with a knife....just a knife you know.......refuses to drop it and well, its just a knife and he's 10' away. Hell, a white cop and a black guy in this climate? In DC? Its just a knife. Then the guy closes fast, takes a couple of rounds but kills one cop and wounds another before he drops.

If the cops would have fired the moment he got out of the car and refused to drop the knife......"well hell those racist bastard cops, too damned worried about officer's safety......it don't matter, they just sent some mother's son to his grave because they were concerned with something meaningless like officer's safety".

YOU make the call, with too damned little information in about 1/5 of a second. YOU tell that dead officer's wife and four kids that officer's safety doesn't count.
