Ben, I have an ancient 8-lb cardboard cylinder of Herco I inherited from my late FIL and have had to work hard to find something to burn it in. He and I had joked about it for years ("gotta find something to use that for") but it never came to pass in his lifetime. I wish you lived closer I'd swap you a couple pounds for some Promo or BE or something. One more thing I plan to try Herco in is subsonic/suppressed .308 Win., but I don't have high hopes for that working very well.

Ian,

Accurate 182 gr. with 8.5 grs. of Herco. in a Springfield 1903 with a two groove barrel.

The 182 gr. plain base bullet sizes out well at .311 ". It has always been a very accurate plain base bullet out of my many .30 cal. rifles.

The 182 gr. plain base , 30 cal. was shot today out of a 30-06 Springfield 1903 with a pristine 2 groove barrel.

Load was 8.5 grs. of Herco and the Accurate 182 gr. plain base, bullets were sized .311" . I fired this 5 shot group at 50 yards. ( That aiming square is 1.25 inches X 1.25 inches for size comparison )

Some feel that shooting plain based rifle bullets is a waste of time. I'm NOT one of those who holds that idea ! ! !

This photo is blurry , but you can get some idea of the shape of the bullet. They weigh 182 grs. as they fall from the mold.
