Yeah, weight of pull goes out the window when the other guy is sending lead your way!

Agree - the old Rolling Block triggers are the worst.
My .45-70 Pedersoli/Navy Arms Buffalo Rifle has a three-pound pull. Granted it's not an original Remington, but either Pedersoli, Navy Arms, or a previous owner got it right.

With the exception of the 1891 Argentine, I installed Timney's in all my Mausers, and the lone 03A3. The two Swiss
K-31 triggers were ideal, and may have rivaled pre-adjustable commercial triggers.

I've never fingered a Savage Accu-Trigger, but the Ruger American's is nice. I changed the factory return spring with one from a ballpoint pen, and dropped the pull to two-pounds.

I only shoot charging sabre-tooth targets, so two to three pounds works for me.

some of the Arisaka triggers have to be pulled to be believed.
the one on the oldest girls hunting rifle must have been 14-15lbs. before i dinged the spring and run some whet stones over it.
i think i got it down to about 10lbs. now.

For me the trigger pull depends entirely on the use of the firearm. The reason my match revolvers never go in the field and my field revolvers never go to a match.
I've touched off some of Rick's match triggers.....................they are defiantly not for me. Guess, it's what you get use to.

Anyone know why the U.S. Military went away from the two stage trigger in the M-16? From the advent of the Krag we had two stage triggers through the M-14. The concept of secure sear engagement always made sense to me in a combat weapon.

I was told by a very experienced high power shooter that the M-16 only became competitive when equipped with a high quality two stage trigger. My source was in the Army Marksmanship Unit and he was extolling the virtues of the MK-II trigger.

Knowing the US gov't, it cost less, so that was the main reason. Mind you, the price went up even though it was cheaper! Gotta love gov't!

The M-16 became competitive when the heavy bullets came out along with a 7-8 twist barrel. Even a 69 Sierra isn’t competitive at 600.

As for the trigger, who knows? I can say that my AR has a very nice 2 stage that has a second stage of maybe 1.5# yet holds the CMP required 4.5# weight. Kinda like cheating?
