Speaking of Ian, his is what he reminds me of in many ways.

Few tools but amazing skills.

I am totally in awe of what some people can make with a file, hacksaw, and drill motor. If time means little, much can be done with nearly nothing.

We had an old man from Mexico at the truck shop years ago who could resurface a cylinder head to within almost perfect flatness by rubbing it on a certain spot on the slab for a while.

"That" is the product of being over 70, working at 9000+ and living at 8000 feet for 35 years. But it is a lousy excuse... I just do not see the underlined words all the time.

How many to change a lightbulb took me about 2 seconds to recall so many stereotype versions .......

How many psychologists does it take to change a lightbulb ?

One . It's very long winded , very expensive , and only works if the lightbulb really wants to change .

I went to LED so I don’t need to change lightbulbs.
Outsmarted the damn things.

I've now had two different 20 year LED's go out now. Of course they were both the expensive kind. A high watt spot light and a 3 way bulb.

LEDs have been dropping like flies here, I got better service out of incandescent.

reminds me I had a 64 ford pickup that we built from spare this and that parts and pieces.
it had a 3/4 ton rear end, a half ton front end, the old 292 V-8 and a 4 speed we rescued from the late model T-bird I used to run.
anyhow I always laughed at the needing a hammer jokes to work on ford's until I had to change the oil pump, it wouldn't go in until I hammered it into place.
that was an odd bird engine anyway, every time I wanted to climb up parley's canyon I'd stop at the bottom and set the points down to about 11 or 12 then stop at the top and open them back up to 18 to go down the other side and drive on.

Had to look up Parley's Canyon. Yep, that's a long pull, going East. Last time we were through there was late September, about six or seven-years-ago. Very scenic. Nice looking area round Coleville(?), but probably not in Winter.

I have a special Ford hammer, no kidding. It's a three-pound sledge with a 2' pipe handle wrapped in self-sticky weatherstrip foam. When I went back to Chrysler I broke a control arm with one whack popping a ball joint loose, guess that muscle memory and force habit from doing the same to Fords was just too much.

used to be.
now it's all owned up and full of dicks.

I remember guy's would drive up the freeway there and pull into the turnout's and glass for deer, the H-P etc. would drive by and wave or maybe stop to see if they were having any luck.
it wasn't uncommon to have a moose or bear wander across the freeway back then either.

and Cokeville?
you ever see the movie Deliverance?
mmm hmmm, you didn't go up there alone, or stay in a tent in certain area's.
you'd have about a 90% chance of walking back out looking like ned beatty going over that log.

Didn't see the movie, but your re-spelling of the name makes the point.

Interesting article. I live in Heber. I drove to Salt Lake City every work day for 25 years up and down Parleys Canyon. Know all those canyons they were talking about. Cokeville? Are you sure you don't mean Coalville. Park City has been taken over by the liberals with all the associated stupid ideas. Can't hardly stand to go over there.
