Yard Sales for Casting Stuff

The BLL coated loads were much better. After the first 3 shots that were in a line 2 1/2" wide, the rest (7) went into about 1 1/2". I say about because I lost one off the bottom of the target. All of the shots were 4" low on the target. Will try this again! The bore was super clean after, too! So, after the first few "fouling" shots, the BLL coated loads settled down into a nice group. The load was 21.0gr of surplus SR4759 under a NOE 311-165 RD (FN) cast of 50/50 COWW's +2% Sn/ pure lead ignited by WLR primers.

The 666-1 with alox added loads shot about a 5" group. I shot at the top of the paper plate target to center them better this time. Same load with just a lube change.

Sounds like you hit a good load right off the bat. That was quite a difference in groups with just a lube change...wow!

I'll give the BLL another try this weekend with the same load. It did seem just too easy! I corrected the scope for center hits, now.

No advertised yard sales in my area this weekend! The 50*F temps and 20 MPH winds shut them all down. Hoping the winds will diminish enough tonight to shoot tomorrow. That hurricane coming up the coast might prevent it, though.

Yodog those same winds are hooking all the way back down on us in MS. May do some casting tommorrow instead of shooting.
Bummer!

That load didn't shoot as well today. Could have been the gusty winds. If I discount one shot that flew off by 3", the rest went into about 2 1/4". I also first shot 9 shots with Ben's Red, only 6 hit the target. That could be from the 666-1 with liquid alox being purged from the barrel. I didn't clean the barrel from last week or most of the summer really.

Shot loads with 21.5gr and 22.0gr surplus SR4759, they were both bad! 5"-6"groups!

Started melting down all the pewter, got about 2/3 ingotized before darkness shut me down. I weighed what I had done in a bucket and it was 40 lbs with about 1/3 still left in the pot. So, looks like about 60 lbs for the year. Will let you know the exact total when I get to finish up. Just made about 1 lb ingots and will make smaller "coins" at a later date, maybe this winter.

Found a chair that will serve me well at the loading bench for $3, that's it.
