243 barrel twist

I'm thinking about getting a heavier barrel for my 243. I intend to use it for cast bullets only. Anywhere from 80 to 100 grain. What do you all think would be the best twist rate? Thanks

The 243 has been very successful for 68 years using a 1-10" twist. It is difficult to argue with success, and with the way Winchester stole Remington's lunch over the 244 Rem's 1-12" twist and the 6mm Rem's 1-9"or 4 turns/meter.

My Ruger #1B in 6mm Remington likes the RCBS 243-095-SP and SAECO #243 (This mold casts heavy at 93 grains with Linotype alloy) sized .244 and LBT lube. My .243 Model 70 Varmint likes the same bullets.

I have campaigned for over 20 years in 243 with that RCBS 6mm-95-SP that Bud mentioned and the Lyman #245496. I have a third design inbound from a member here to mess around with as well. The 243 has been the best small rifle castings caliber I have tried by a wide margin over the 22s, 25s, and 6.5mms.

If'n it were me, for cast bullets , I'd go with the slowest rate possble , maybe a 12, might be way off ,but IMO cast likes slow.
