350 legend in my future

I’ve decided to get one. Brass is cheap, I have lots (and lots) of cast bullets, it uses small primers, which I have plenty of, and what the heck, I want one! Was hoping to get one in a black stocked CVA Cascade but none are to be found. Saw a much over priced one a few weeks ago in camo but I don’t need camo and, it was $100 over what it should have been. Had my buddy at my local favorite shop try to find me one in black or a Thompson Center Venture and he can’t find either. Stopped into one of my other favorite gun stores yesterday (where my son and I have purchased lots of guns) and they had a 350 legend camo Cascade for the correct price on the rack. Thought about it a little, my buddy looking for me said it’s a great price and none are to be found otherwise, so I called them today and had them lay it away for me until Friday. Oh boy, another toy to play with!

I just purchased a Savage 350. I have everything except the brass so I found 3 bxs of factory. Just shooting them to recover brass, I was amazed at the accuracy. After fouling shots and scope adjustment it was cutting bullet holes at hundred. Recoil was mild considering a 19/20 inch barrel.
I got the Accurate 36-180LG mold. Next step is finish shooting the factory and cast some bullets then the fun part (load development.)
I think you will be happy with it.

I have the Savage 110 Hog Hunter in 350 Legend. I've got 100 rounds of the Winchester White Box 145 grain FMJ for harvesting, 100 rounds of various hunting ammo plus 500 rounds of virgin Winchester brass, 100 rounds of Winchester once-fired brass and 200 Hornady 165 grain XTP bullets and 100 Hornady 147 grain XTP bullets.

I converted mine to a Scout configuration and was able to put three rounds touching at 150 yards, after sight in with the Vortex 2-7x32 Scout scope. Now to work up some hunting loads!

Couple years ago I convinced myself I needed a bolt 308 tactical style rifle. You know cause all the kool kids had them.

Looking at all the models seeing the exorbitant fees they was asking the Hog Hunter was one of the most reasonable and frankly had a good reputation for accuracy. I never did pick one up, but its always in my head.

RC, I’m jealous of all the brass you have! I’m nursing 100 pieces of star line and just picked up 50 pieces of Hornady this week. I’m kind of late to the party getting my 450 last fall. It’s ok though, I have plenty of rifles (adding the 350) to shoot cast in.

The rifle at the top, in the 2 rifle picture, is the Mossberg MVP Scout in 308. I like the magazine system as it uses the same magazines as my Springfield Armory Saint Victor AND magazines from the M1A/M14 (which I also have a few of laying around) .

I am currently looking at the Mossberg Patriot Predator in 450 Bushmaster, but nobody anywhere has one, so I guess I'll have to put my name on the waiting list.

I did not know this. Savage 110 etc blind, box, center, and stagger feed magazines all are terrible. I had looked at aftermarket bottom metal which takes SR-25 magazines but wanted either LR-308 or M1A/M14 pattern and there isn't much if anything available. How does Mossberg make the well to accept both styles?

I'm not sure, how they do it, but it's advertised as a patented system. If you look carefully at the front of the magazine well, yo will note a half-circle indent. That is the magazine release mechanism.

I think it was you Tom, who turned me towards someone doing testing and selling brass year ir two back in legend. Anyhow I was able to buy 250 for a song. Then when I bought the first rifle ammo was still cheap and Winchester mini bricks was 88/90$ For 6 20rnd boxes. I bought four gave one to my buddy for Christmas that year.
I have two 350's ta feed and keep brass separate as the MSR is much harder on brass then the bolt gun. Im not needing brass for some time myself.

Well, I got to the gun shop today and they had sold the gun the night before I told them I would buy it… So I headed to a different shop, the one with all the powder. They had a 350 legend but it was a Ruger little short barreled ugly something and I wasn’t interested. They did have a gun that caught my eye though and something I’ve been wanting, a CVA Scout in 44 mag. Been wanting a 44 mag rifle since I got rid of the Marlin 1894. So I bought it! Stainless with a camo stock and pretty sharp looking. I need to load up some test ammo now and see what works. I also picked up some jacketed bullets for the 450BM, 8lb jug of IMR 4227 and… 200 pieces of 350 legend brass. Too good of a price to pass up and I WILL get one these eventually. It was a good day!
