Mold arrived today.
I gave it a good long hot bath in hot soapy Dawn
with a soft nylon toothbrush .

Blew the 2 mould halves off with an air hose.
Allowed it to pre-heat on the edge of my 20 lb. pot.

2 cavities are plain base, 2 cavities are gas checked.
The bullets with my air cooled WW's are falling at .4615"

That is just fine. I'm sizing to .460 ".
Should be interesting in my 45-70 Siamese 98'.

Good looking bullet. Bet you'll have that one shooting in no time at all.
It would be nice to see a deer hunting report on that one next season.

That is a good bullet. I bet the plain base would be good up to 1600-1700 fps. Not often we need more than that anyway.

My 1st 100 bullets are in the " plain base mode ".
I'll play with gas checked ones later down the road if needed, but 1st , the plain base and 2400 powder.

2400 is the first powder I would try in 45-70. Often times it is the last too.

You could do worse.
Economical , accurate, what's not to like ?
Some complain about the unburned powder granules, the deer I killed last Wednesday didn't have a lot to say about that issue..............
