44 special

Wonder if Ruger would make a 44 SP. cylinder for the SBH ?

You guys have no issues with the bevel based bullets I see.

They work great in a progressive press but I wonder if there is any accuracy loss.

Just thinkin' out loud.

I don't think you'd gain much by chambering a cylinder just for the Special. I've shot countless .44 Specials in my SBH, and the only problem is that sooty deposits in the chamber in front of the Special brass can make chambering and extraction sticky when you go back to shooting .44 Magnums without first cleaning the chambers. For that reason, and because the SBH is happy with .44 Special loads that are hotter than I want to feed to a Bulldog, I load milder loads in Magnum brass instead of using Specials. I reserve certain bullets for the full Magnum loads and others for the lighter loads for easy identification.

I just went to Ruger's site. They'll sell you a New Model Blackhawk Bisley in .44 Special. I'll bet their Custom Shop would whip you up a Super Blackhawk with an interchangeable .44 Special cylinder, but I don't think it would be worthwhile.

I wouldn't mind a 44 special BH. One on the new Vaquero frame would be fine by me. I want less weight than the SBH.
I shoot plenty of 44 special in my SRH, or did til I got the 624 from Rick.

Put 50 rounds of 44Mag thru my Super BlackHawk this past week. Been a while since I shot it. Next time will shoot special loads in it!.

My SBH is my first handgun. We've been together for 45 years. It was my first CC piece, too, 40 years ago. I still have the Bianchi X15 shoulder holster, intended for an 8 3/8" M29, that I bought for the purpose then. (I wanted an 8 3/8" M29 but never have gotten one.) It works with a .44 Walker replica too, BTW, though I don't make a habit of that. And that Walker for all of its amazing fireworks is in the .44 Special class, pushing a 200 grain bullet around 1000 FPS.

I have two Ruger Flattops in .44 Special (blued 5.5" and a SS 4 5/8"). Both of these shoot extremely well (under 1" at 25 yards off a rest). The SS qualifies as a " Perfect Packing Pistol" for those that appreciate a good single sction.

Either can go from "mild to wild" for small game or deer and hogs depending on how they wre loaded. The very good adjustable sights help make them very versatile.

4 5/8 in BH is perfect for a 44 special. With the Skeeter load it would be very manageable and plenty powerful too.

sept the logo on the grips likes to tear up your thumb.
I really need to send my stainless pistols cylinder off to Doug guy and get it reamed on a couple of cylinders.
fortunately it works perfectly with the cylinder from the blued one.
