Just picked one up (1/2 hour ago)and I’m thinking a250-275 gr bullet, maybe 240. I have no 44 molds right now. I’m open to recommendations. If anyone would like to sell me 20-40 cast bullets to try before I buy a mold I’m open to that too. Thanks

Congrats, should be fun!
Do you happen to know the rifling twist?
I would be partial to try the Lee 430-310, even though it is outside the weight range you have indicated.

Ol Elmer killed a moose at a mile with a 430421 (purple exaggeration font) .

All humour aside that or the Lee cousin might be a place to start . I have a 429421 that was professionally opened to .448 , long trek with a perfectionist , it worked well as a paper patched bullet in both a 45 Colts and 460/45 Raptor carbines . Sort of oranges and Cuties I know but a handy place to start .

From what I've seen they tend to do well with 280s.

And they kick--too light for the load. Nice shooters though.

Powerful and highly effective on the shootee and the shooter. I think you'll settle on nothing over 240 in a Handi Rifle.

airc they specced the 444's to have a 430-431 or thereabouts barrel diameter.
I'd for sure double check what I had before ordering a size die.

+1!!! My marlins like them a bit big... lapped the lee moulds to .433 for both my 44mag & T4.
