I have come across a Diamond series 4-16x50 With features I need like locking turrets (exposed) a zero stop and extra turrets.

My local friend and occasional shooting pard has ?-12X40 Nikko-Sterlings on his .223 Howa and 5.56 Mini-14, and likes them. He likes my Mueller 8-25X44 better, though.

Read, once, that Nikko-Sterlings were/are made in Japan.

I think they rebranded these to the Cabelas scopes. Or that was what a lot of people said anyway years ago. Just like every other scope out there you hear good and bad. My luck it would be junk.

I would gladly buy a 1960's "Made in Japan" Tasco any chance I have...They were excellent opticians back then! However the last one I got was an early 1970's and it's Zero changed between shots! Not the mounting but something in the scope upon firing! It is sitting on my shelf in my reloading room. I have un-retired it 2 more times over the years and sometimes it impressed me but then it reverted back to the problem each time! I never tried to sell it because I did not want to put anyone through the torture I had endured.

It seems solid I have it on a PCP Air rifle.

In the 90s, I bought a used 6x18x50 Tasco Target (Japan), I believe it was mid 1970s vintage.
I didn't like it. Not enough light gathering ability on 18 power...If it wasn't bright and sunny outside, using 18x, everything was grey and fuzzy.
