Sure would be hard to dispute that statement Ben. Now if we could only make
our own powder and primers! Oh Well, need to take what we can get and be
happy!

Reloaders seem to like the concept of being self sufficient.

Being able to produce your own gas checks simply takes that concept one step further.

Truer words were never spoken Ben. There really is something fascinating about being able to control every facet of production.

Well actually. ........ There are plenty of instructions and sources of components for your primers and caps . BP is a walk to make once you do a couple batches . There exist recipes for brown and low smoke BP as well . The best of single base smokeless for Joe to brew in the garage is affectionately known as gun cotton cellulose, cotton ,paper, wood pulp etc ,saturated and dried in nitric acid. 1 step above BP and a push as to whether or not cordite is better or worse .

Just cause I live to muddy the water .

I experimented quite a bit with rebuilding fired primers, and shared the information on CB many years ago. The original procedure involved cutting the tips from "strike anywhere" matches, and using them to reactivate a primer. The instructions were in the Armys "Improvised Munitions Handbook". It caught on quite nicely, and was pretty popular during the second great primer famine. A short while later, strike anywhere matches were "improved", to contain less phosphorous (I believe), and the procedure fell into disuse. I do have information around here somewhere on how to make different priming compounds. The question is.... where?

Hmmm, do I detect a small thread drift? Here?
