Bullet storage: As cast or sized?

I use empty coffee containers for storage of as cast bullets or powder coated to age for at least 6 months. They will be finished growing by then. After that time, I will size or lube/size and load.

I've always felt it was best to store my powder, primer, and bullet in the handy and ready to go brass case. Since I got the Mark7 Apex 10, it's not a big deal to crank out a few thousand loaded rounds. It is a big deal to change it over and reset everything up for a different cartridge, so I load a year or two worth of each before changing over.

I like to store my brass in ammo cans so the brass will not tarnish. But loaded and in a fire, your ammo cans might look like this.

I cast large numbers in one siiting. As-cast go into one large container. A match normally requires 60 rounds. A day or two before the match, I cull and weigh up to 60 bullets and then lube and size them. They then get loaded into cartridges or put into ammo box if I am breach-seating.

In my experience, lube that is anything other than hard wax dries out and shrinks pretty quickly. I will run bullets that did not get shot in the match 2 weeks previously, thru the 450 to refresh the lube. I use NRA 50/50 from White Label.

Pretty much like me when I was shooting Nationals in Iowa and South Dakota. Load the 5th wheel seven day before we left and I had lubed and seated bullets the night before.
