Casting for the 380 ACP

Some people think they're going to be in gunfights every 20 minutes too.
Agree, some people require 12+ rounds of 9mm at a minimum so they can feel better about the possibility of using the handgun.

I'm pretty sure for your average assailant a few hits with a 380 will make them slow down. Most people hit with any bullet are going to be well aware and not laugh at your bullet choice. If they're drugged out or wearing armor, you'll need a rifle anyway. Might as well dump the mag and run like the dickens.

Better to have something than nothing.
If you break enough stuff you don't have to poke a hole in it .
Any major blood vessel cut is almost as good as any CNS hit .
When it's coming all undone none of this will be a consideration in the moment because it's either going to be a complete blur of muscle memory response that even with intense contemplation is almost 3rd person or the 3 seconds it lasts is going to seem like 15 minutes of running in chest deep mud during which you made 25 conscious decisions and marveled at how slowly the hammer/slide moved . The second situation makes you very dangerous and the first is a normal response to never feeling the shot break .

I saw a video a while ago that used a gel torso with a ceramic vest on it complete with faux bones and tinted separate organs .

Myth busters did a deal using a 210 lb titanium skeleton crash dummy to see if a given ballistic impact would knock a man of his feet they eventually used a 50 BMG at 100 yd with a solid stuck bullet spine hit that failed to knock the dummy off it's perch . I feel obligated to say there was something flawed in their set up the 750 gr bullet even at a fairly sedate 2200 fps should have applied something like 3500 ftlb to the 200# and pushed it off the stand .

The gelatin torso was shot center of mass with something huge like a 577 T Rex from 25 yd just in case it splattered. It in fact made the plate turn sideways. The kevlar did stop the bullet but most of it was inside the torso which jumped about 3' sideways off the stand .

I know no body is packing a 577 for SD . But weird things happen with the Taylor Knock Out formula too . The sedate 45 Colts is a lot closer than you would think to the 454 and 460 . Dwell time is important to doing what the bullet does .

If poking a hole isn't practical break it a lot of saw a chunk off .

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
2 to the chest, 1 to the head, repeat as needed. Trained that way, seems pretty common sense to me. A 90 gr 380 bullet to the forehead or face is gonna get their attention. If it doesn't, beat them with the pistol. That's why mine is steel!

Here in the PNW, we had our own "gang sign". Index and middle fingers spread and placed over the heart, then thumb on the forehead. Things would get calm pretty quickly after that.
