CCW Insurance Questions

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
For those of you who have CCW licenses/permits:
1. Do you have CCW insurance?
2. If so, with what company?
3. If not, why?

Thank you,
Michael

I have Carry Guard through the NRA.

Don't recall what insurance they use............would have to look it up.

Pretty reasonably priced for another layer of protection. Covers the spouse, also.

CCW insurance is for when you shoot someone for protecting your or someone else's life, either his heirs sue you or a DA arrests you. Help pay your legal expenses. Some people live in areas where either or both of those scenarios are more likely than not.

Way of the world, any more.

The insurance is (what I have) is to provide legal council for a legal shooting. Normal scenario is you get arrested, weapon seized for evidence, you provide bail (unless insurance covers it - extra cost), LE investigates and DA files charges. Grand jury decides if charges are legit, if so, goes to trial. You get NO representation before grand jury for indictment, one sided (supposedly) evidential only case. That is the reason they state SHUT UP after a shooting!! Anything YOU say to LE can be used against YOU.

Popper is exactly right, btdt. If the GJ returns no true bill, you're free and under Texas law no one can sue you for anything afterward. Problem is the GJ does whatever the DA directs them to do so there might as well not even be one. You probably won't ever get your weapon back, and if you retained council immediately, you're out that money, typically $10-20,000. If they return a true bill, you get to lawyer up for realsies and fight it in court and/or work a plea deal. The wheels of the criminal injustice system are greased with plea deals and most courtroom politics plays out on the golf course, it is a hideous mess that makes government politics look like a child's tea party. Insurance would be a good idea but a better one would be start a defense fund savings account, that way the insurance company can't find some way to screw you out of your premiums on some obscure technicality.

In CA I have no advise, maybe easier to just let the thugs have their way with you.

Prayers none of us ever HAVE to... if the option looked effective I'd prefer a blade.
